Pierr Padilla, Afro-Peruvian zapateo & contemporary step  w/Collectivo Palenke

On April 7, 2008, a group of young musicians, dancers and singers decided to create an artistic Afro-Peruvian collective and called it “palenque”, in recognition of the rural settlements where people of African descent held a community life characterized by the equality of all its members.
Their “Palenke”, through art, aims to contribute to the advancement, appreciation and promotion of Afro-Peruvian culture and its contributions to society and the history of Peru.

“Palenke” creates and executes shows and performances. Their proposal is based on the integration of music, dance and theater fused with Latin rhythms and urban genres achieving dramatic, dynamic, and high quality performance outcomes, together with high impact interaction with the public.
