Mariano Liy w/Fiesta Negra
Fiestanegra is an Afro-Peruvian jazz dance band. It’s versatile instrumentation uses a full horn section, keyboards, electric bass and Afro-Peruvian percussion. It’s arrangements cross over into international genres such as salsa, timba, jazz and reggae, giving the Afro-Peruvian roots a contemporary touch. The essence of Afro-Peruvian folklore is carefully maintained at every turn.
Fiestanegra is a project created, arranged and directed by Mariano Liy, native of Lima Perú, who currently tours the world with Eva Ayllón.
The members of Fiesta Negra are Mariano Liy, music director and bass, Carlos Mosquera, voice; Dany Yacila, keyboards; Néstor Benítez, saxophones; Junior Pacora, saxofone and flute; Fernando Flores, trombone; Pepe Villanueva and Marco Ordoñez, trumpets; Mario Cuba, bass; Marcos Mosquera, congas; Henry Campos, cajón; Mario Aguero, bongó and Marco Campos, percussion and vocals.
The band’s first album is soon to be released. Important guests artists include Alex Acuña, Ramòn Stagnaro and Josè Luis Madueño, among others.
Fiestanegra has been featured at important events and festivals such as Festival Selvámonos in Oxapampa, Perú, Festival Internacional Jazz Perú, ICPNA Jazz Festival and two editions of the International Peruvian Cajón Festival.
